Important to know
- Google and Apple sign-in are available in the LinkedWithin app. On the website, sign in with your email address and password.
- We receive your name, email address and an identifier from Google or Apple, and never a password.
- If you already have an account with the same verified email address, Google or Apple sign-in opens that account. You do not end up with two.
If you would rather not remember another password, sign in with the Google or Apple account you already use. Both options are on the sign-in and sign-up screens of the app.
The first time
- Open the app and choose Continue with Google or Continue with Apple.
- Google or Apple asks you to confirm. We receive your name, your email address and an identifier from them, and nothing else.
- If this is your first LinkedWithin account, we ask you to accept our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy and to tick I confirm that I am 18 years of age or older, then choose Agree & join.
During our pilot, sign-up is by invitation, so the email address on your Google or Apple account must be one we have invited.
If you already have an email-and-password account
Sign in with Google or Apple using the same email address, and we open the account you already have. Everything is where you left it, and from then on either way in works.
Using the website
The website signs you in with an email address and password. If your account was created with Google or Apple, it has no password yet. To set one, open the website sign-in page, choose Forgot password, enter your account email and follow the code we send. After that you can sign in either way. This works only when we hold an email address for you.
Changing your password later
An account that has never had a password cannot use Change password in Settings. The password-reset route above is the way to add one.
A note on Apple
Apple lets you decide what to share with us. If no email address reaches us, we cannot email you, so some email-based steps, such as the code that confirms closing your account, are done from the app instead. You can add an address any time under ProfileEdit in the app.
